About Susan Wooler
Susan Wooler is an artist from the United Kingdom, who was brought up on a Council Estate and went to a Comprehensive School, she is now living in a beautiful Welsh seaside village, with Tony, her Husband; Frank, their Black Labrador and their Tortoiseshell Cat, Quando - yes, she was named after the song by Pat Boone. One of the Susan's earliest memories was been given a box of crayons and a colouring book as a present for her 6th birthday. She treasured them and would sit for hours on end colouring in, often on her Dads knee whilst he taught her how to draw. Susan has no formal art training and is completely self taught, she has been painting abstract art at weekends and evenings since her early teens and absolutely loves it. Coming from a working class family, Susan was instilled with a strong work ethic from a young age, taking on her first job doing a paper round when she was twelve years old, eventually she left school early at fifteen years of age and got a job. Her mother was a Dinner Lady and her Dad worked in a Factory, and both her parents always worked hard to provide for Susan and her sisters. Although they lived in poverty and didn’t have much, they were happy and cared for; in return for what they lacked in material items they were given a much greater gift - love and encouragement. Susan lives by the values her parents passed down, to care, be compassionate and be grateful. Until recently Susan always had a 9 – 5 job working in an Office, a Bakery, Dog Kennels, whilst also being a Singer in a band for a few years. Nowadays she is a full time Carer for her husband, Tony and paints daily. She feels honoured and grateful that her paintings are in collectors homes all over the world. Artist Statement - "I create one off original paintings, I never replicate them. I mainly use acrylic paint but like to dabble with oils as well. I don’t follow ‘a style’ per se. I paint what I love, what inspires me and I hope this is conveyed in my paintings. I want the viewers of my paintings to enjoy what their seeing, whether they chose to make a purchase or not. Painting excites me, a shape, a colour, a landscape or a cloudy sky can spark an idea which I aim to capture on canvas. My paintings evoke my emotions, they make me feel Cheerful or Content. Some have a tranquil, relaxing effect with soft tones and delicate brush strokes; whilst others are bold, vibrant and break away from traditional ideas bringing a feeling of exhilaration and excitement"
